Plan the inland movement before the container reaches the port. The receiving site, unloading arrangements, transport scope and empty-container return all affect the handover. Al-Rouby connects customs milestones with delivery planning so the port team, transport coordinator and receiving factory work from the same shipment information.
What must the factory confirm?
Provide the exact address and receiving contact, appointment windows, gate requirements and vehicle access limitations. Check whether a loaded container can enter the site or whether another arrangement is needed. Confirm forklift, crane or unloading resources with the party providing them. The ability to accept a vehicle is a separate question from the ability to safely handle the cargo inside it.
When should the vehicle be scheduled?
Agree a provisional delivery plan while documents and release steps are being completed. A firm collection should follow confirmation of the relevant customs, carrier and terminal requirements. An expected vessel arrival is not the same as permission to collect a container. Share changes to release status with the transport and receiving teams so they can adjust appointments without assuming the cargo is already available.
What does the transport scope include?
Specify whether the quote covers container transport, cargo transfer, additional stops, unloading assistance or a vehicle waiting period. Identify who supplies lifting equipment and who pays any additional service. A port-to-factory transport instruction should name both the handover point and receiving point. If fragile or heavy cargo needs special handling, confirm the arrangement before the transport is dispatched.
How should unloading and receipt be managed?
Prepare a responsible receiver and an unloading plan suitable for the goods. Record the container and seal details at handover and follow the agreed process for reporting any discrepancy. Delivery records should distinguish receipt from installation or commissioning. Do not describe a shipment as installed merely because the vehicle arrived at the factory; that work has its own scope and responsible party.
Why plan the empty-container return?
Confirm the carrier’s nominated return location, current instructions and applicable time conditions for the booking. Keep the return move in the same operational plan as unloading. Terminal storage, container use and vehicle waiting are different charge categories and should be clarified separately. The relevant carrier or terminal terms control the actual amounts and periods; a generic number of free days should not be assumed.
How does Al-Rouby coordinate the inland leg?
We align customs follow-up with transport coordination and receiving requirements. Our operational roots are in Suez and Ain Sokhna, with shipment support through other Egyptian gateways as required. Send the container plan and receiving site details early. The team can identify information needed to coordinate collection, the delivery appointment and the final handover for the agreed scope.
Why should the supplier check the container weight?
Ask the supplier abroad to check each container's weight carefully before loading. In our files, a container weight that was not checked has held shipments at the port exit gate, even after clearance was complete. Under the IMO SOLAS rules, the shipper must also provide a verified gross mass for every packed container before it is loaded. More in common problems in Egypt-bound shipments.

Factory delivery readiness checklist
- Confirm the receiving address, contact and gate arrangements.
- Share container count, sizes, cargo weights and restrictions.
- Agree unloading equipment and the party supplying it.
- Keep transport timing linked to actual collection readiness.
- Confirm the empty return location and document the final handovers.
Frequently asked questions
Check the relevant carrier and terminal collection requirements as well. A transport appointment should follow actual collection readiness.
Only when the agreed scope says so. Clarify equipment, labour, waiting and additional services before dispatch.
No. Charges depend on the applicable terms and actual shipment events. Early coordination helps manage avoidable exposure but cannot guarantee an outcome.
Yes. The container still has to leave through the port gate, and in our files unchecked weights have held shipments there. Ask the supplier to check and document the weight before loading.
